Commercial Plumbing Projects

Our scope covers new underground sanitary and grease waste piping, domestic hot and cold water with a hot water return, new fixtures and drains, and connections for the restaurant’s kitchen equipment. Working inside an existing building meant cutting the slab, locating tie-in points and phasing the work around a historic structure.

Restaurant work is mostly about the kitchen: floor sinks and troughs for soup kettles, dish machine connections, grease waste, and bar changes worked out with the design team during construction.

Each one involves underground sanitary and grease waste, domestic water with a hot water return, backflow prevention, and connections for about 20 pieces of kitchen equipment, from custard machines to a draft beer system. In Chesterfield, our plumbing was part of Shake Shack’s MEP commissioning program, which verifies that every system performs to the owner’s standards before opening.

We installed a dozen wall-hung toilets, ADA bottle-filling stations, a booster pump, a tankless water heater and seven roof drains with overflows.

The first phase rebuilt the restrooms with new sanitary, vent and copper water piping and sensor-operated fixtures, and added new storm drainage with a pedestrian-rated trench drain. We’re now handling design-build plumbing for a second phase that converts space for retail use, from permit drawings through new fixtures and a breakroom.

The space needed plumbing for six bathing tubs and a step-in shower, two tankless gas water heaters with built-in recirculation to keep hot water ready at every tub, floor drains throughout the grooming and mechanical areas, and a hair trap to protect the drains. Along the way, we also handled an emergency water service repair, underground drain repairs and new roof drains.

Our plumbers pumped out and removed the existing trap, modified the grease waste and vent piping, and installed a new Schier Great Basin interceptor in a single shift, keeping the store’s kitchen downtime to one day.

The work took a street opening on a busy downtown corridor: a St. Louis City excavation permit, utility locates, traffic control and street plates, then a new 2-inch copper service with a city-standard curb stop, a sealed wall penetration, and a street patch to city requirements.
